A five day workshop with Denis Brown
Level: Calligraphers with good computer skills welcome. Those unfamiliar with either Dreamweaver or Photoshop software are advised to take a local class in one or both of these applications prior to this specialist workshop.
Max. 12 students
Design your own calligraphy website, or give it a full make-over. The class will help you make your calligraphy look great on the web, covering scanning and importing digital images, and editing them in Photoshop. Get loads of tips for making calligraphy look sharp and punchy on screen. Dreamweaver software will be introduced and used for building and maintaining your site. You will be shown how to upload your site to the internet and how to make it more visible to search engines. Online sales via paypal will be covered. Above all you will benefit from design tips and critiques by a master calligrapher who has won awards for his own website, www.quillskill.com. Additional help and advice will be given re. letterform and logo design; and Denis will reveal all regarding the digital design of his edition prints and CD-/DVD-ROM designs.
Room Requirements: Network with 1 computer terminal per student, with internet access, Mac or PC platform. Software required will be Photodshop CS3 and Dreamwaver CS3. Alternatively, if students can bring their own laptops plus software, then a computer lab may not be necessary. Please enquire for more details. Also required: Scanning facilities; Computer projection facility.
Student Supply List: Usual calligraphy supplies of pens, paper, brushes, paints, etc.2GB USB flash drive. Any digital images you have of your work or else photographs/originals that can be scanned at the workshop.
