A five day Photoshop workshop with Denis Brown

Level: For calligraphers with good computer skills and some familiarity with Photoshop
Max. 12 students

A class for calligraphers wanting hands on assistance developing the potential of digital image manipulation.

Students will scan calligraphy, images and found objects; which will be optimized, layered and manipulated in Photoshop to make dynamic art. Good design will be emphasized and cliché effects will be scorned. Advice will be given on how to achieve archival, fine art-prints on quality papers. Students will be individually guided in work of their chosen direction, be it design, typography, fine art, or website development. Denis will show and discuss his own varied work using computers, from the seemingly traditional to the outwardly digital.

Room Requirements: Scanning and inkjet printing facility; Computer projection facility; wireless internet access would be  most welcome.

Student Supply List: Mac or PC Laptop computer with Photoshop CS5 installed and operational; 2GB USB flash drive; At least 50 sheets of Photo Quality Inkjet paper, US letter or A4 size. Also bring usual calligraphy supplies of pens, paper, brushes, paints, etc.
