digital calligraphy

A class for calligraphers wanting hands on assistance developing the potential of digital image manipulation. Students will scan calligraphy, images and found objects; which will be layered and manipulated in Photoshop to make dynamic art. Good design will be emphasized and cliché effects will be scorned. Advice will be given on how to achieve archival, fine art-prints on quality papers. Students will be individually guided in work of their chosen direction, be it design, typography, fine art, or website development. Denis will show his own work using computers, from the seemingly traditional, to the outwardly digital.

Room Requirements: 1 computer terminal per student, Mac or PC platform; Software required will be Photoshop CS3. Scanning and inkjet printing facilities; Computer projection facility. A technician should be available to introduce the network to the instructor, and preferably also be on call throughout the workshop. Alternatively, if students can bring their own laptops plus software, then a computer lab may not be necessary. Please enquire for more details.

Student Supply List: Usual calligraphy supplies of pens, paper, brushes, paints, etc. 2GB USB flash drive; At least 50 sheets of Epson Photo Quality Inkjet paper, or similar 720dpi printing paper, US letter or A4 size.
