Art Appreciation
for Calligraphers:
A one day seminar
with Denis Brown
for all levels of calligrapher

Many calligraphers today see their work as fine art rather than craft, so an education in art history and appreciation is appropriate.

The seminar will provide a brief history of modern art and subsequent directions with particular emphasis on areas of potential interest to calligraphers. Gestural art, Informal Art, Abstract Expressionism, Concrete Poetry, Conceptualism  and Word Art will all be analyzed in slide presentations, and avenues for further study will be suggested for the student to follow in their own time after the workshop. Denis will also discuss his own artistic directions and influences as well as those of other notable calligraphic artists.

ROOM REQUIREMENTS:
Computer data projector supporting XGA resolution (1024 x 768 pixels). Level: All. Maximum number of students only limited by available space.
