Text: Ninth century poem by an Irish monk about his cat named “Pangur Bán”. The cat hunted mice with the same dedication as the author hunted words and wisdom, through writing and his scribal practice. The lower drawing here brings a modern reference, where a Celtic cat has his paw on a computer mouse and is playing Pac-Man!

Artist's notes: This design was commissioned by Trinity College Library for a souvenir poster several years back when I was also doing calligraphy for all the panels for "The Book of Kells" exhibition. This is my own superior limited edition.
