5 layers of engraved glass, over a watercolor paper background bearing a one-off unique original print, 30 x
41 cm.
The form suggests a
turbulent river passing through an icy straight, (as could have been explored
by St Brendan), and also a female torso with child. The concept
relates to the legendary Irish Saint Brendan, famous for sea voyages and
explorations during the 6th century AD. The theme was originally explored
in a manuscript book I made as a welcoming to a new baby, (actually the
new son, named Brendan, of my first calligraphy mentor). Here the foetal
Brendan is presented with celtic knotted umbilical cord.
