Calligraphic Art by Denis Brown
CD-ROM for PC and Macintosh

Pack design, option "A", The Eye
Packaging designed by the artist features print on clear acetate layered over the full color printed disc, a technique giving some of the 3D effect of Denis' glass art. This custom design requires hand assembly of every pack & is finished with the artists' signature. There are 2 variations on the design, (one of which is pictured above, the other below, though web resolution graphics cannot approach the detail and 3D transparency of the actual packs).

The full range of Denis Brown's outstanding calligraphy is presented together: hundreds of high quality images including enlargements to actual size or bigger, plus the artist's personal commentary, anecdotes and in-depth analyses.
Version 2 is significantly expanded and enhanced. It includes many new works, particularly in the glassworks section, now over 400 images in total. Practically all of the new images have screen size views plus huge enlarged pictures of the whole work that will fill much more than your screen, but you scroll around to select any detail view you want, larger than life-size. The brand new version 2.5 now adds new content from 2005.
Some movie sequences have been added showing Denis Brown's fast manipulated writing and unconventional stroke directions. One sequence shows his process of engraving a work in layered glass, portraying the 3rd dimension to a degree impossible in a still picture.
The overall design has been enhanced, and will now work well even on high-resolution screens. An autorun/autostart facility has been added, and the packaging has been redesigned.

Denis says:
"Basically, the CD works like a huge website, impossibly large for the world wide web, but fast loading direct from CD (& no internet connection is required).
"It features loads of my works, but I see it also as an artwork in itself- a 21st century equivalent to the ancient manuscript books that were my first inspiration, and crafted with the same balance of care and sheer excitement as any of my handmade pieces!"

Movies have to be compressed a lot to fit on CD, nonetheless the actual size reveals many details. These images are reduced to less than one third actual width & height.

Featuring a comprehensive overview of the wide range and scope of Denis Brown's calligraphy, from early teenage works inspired by Celtic art, into the stunning array of experimental work that has followed. The artist's comments accompany the works, including intimate anecdotes, stories and memories, as well as in-depth analysis of his philosophy and style. The range of this unique artist is breathtaking- the CD may evoke a wide range of responses, from admiration, to shock and suspicion, to thought provocation; and all the way back again: yet awe inspiring throughout. It features over 400 images. Many enlarged images are much bigger than the window or screen size, and allow you to scroll to select your own detail views. The only comprehensive guide to the work of Denis Brown.
